Carnao Beats recently released his bad ass track “Baddest Mother Fcker” on all platforms with Beat Culture Records, and from the moment we heard it, not only did we dig the chill bassy funky beat but the lyrics resonated with us (as DJs and Producers of house music ourselves).
The beat has a funky bassline as always from Carnao, a cool dark chill but slappy vibe, contrasting nicely with a pretty vibey female vocal in the background, all part of the signature style Carnao… but it also has a cool quote in the break- with one guy asking a producer what’s his end goal with making tracks every year, and then his answer was spot on:
“So you make 15 records this year…. So what? You make 30 records next year… So what? What’s the finish line? Where do you finish up? What’s the grand prize?”
“So my grand prize is… I wanna be known as one of the baddest mother f*ckrs to do this sh*t. I don’t wanna be know AS the baddest, I just wanna be known as one of many.”
This is a great quote that resonates with producers of all levels. We all wanna be known bad ass beat makers, and to be known for being one of the most bad ass beat makers would be a dream come true. At least I know for me, as a producer myself, this is more important than the money. It’s about the music, it’s about being recognized as an artist, and it’s about dropping bad ass beats. I like the un-egotistical “I don’t wanna be known as the baddest” because that’s always a subjective question “who’s the best ____” and it doesn’t even really matter when just being on the list is already a job well done.
Ironically, it’s tracks like this that are cementing Carnao Beats as one of these baddest beat making mfrs in house music, at least from our point of view, but we’ve only been listening to house music for 30 years, so what do we know 😉
