These ladies were born in Atlantic City, which, once you know them, explains a lot. They grew up around serious talent, even kicking it with the Rat Pack at early ages (truth). They moved to the Coachella Valley in Southern California before they were in New Jersey long enough to develop accents and became best friends early on. As kids, they made up dance routines to Ace of Base’s “The Sign” album and religiously listened to TLC’s “Crazy Sexy Cool” until they knew all of Left Eye’s rap verses by heart. It’s these long-standing musical connections and interactive energy that make any Lisbona exposure electric. Since the start of their official music career in 2011, they’ve secured releases on acclaimed and iconic labels such as Nervous, Insomniac Records, South of Saturn, Club Sweat, Box of Cats, Housekeepers, and Fantastic Voyage. While they’ve been acclaimed for rocking massive festival stages and super-club main rooms, they also have the deep rooted musical knowledge necessary to impress the most judgemental of music-heads at an intimate underground. As DJs, their musical style varies from dance floor to dance floor, prioritizing crowd connection above all else. House, disco, techno and Italo energetically weave their ways into the party, with the occasional surprise visit from 80s electro, 90s R&B, and whatever else makes sense in the moment; genre-wise, nothing is off limits. The Lisbona Sisters may have been around a while, but be assured that they are just getting started. One thing’s for sure; by the time they’re finished, you’ll be seeing double.
